The Principles of Truth
This is the first letter, probably one of many that I write to you to share what I learn and teach on living light. I hope this will help you live well. I want to start by making an important distinction between Truth and Reality.
Reality, or what we can call our personal truth, is based on our circumstances and upbringing. They shape our body, feeling and mind. We are living this Reality every day. No one can debate that with us. Our reality exists in time and space and is impermanent since our lives will pass one day.
Truth, or universal Truth, on the other hand, is permanent. It’s always there in everything, yet it moves constantly, like life itself. Think of it in terms of a flower that changes over time. Its essence, or the principles that make it move, never change. The flower lives in its own Reality, but the force that moves it is outside time and space, eternal.
This distinction may be difficult to understand at first, but when we apply it to our lives, we can discover what lies beyond our Reality and belief systems, where we are often stuck and lost. When we can see this, we may get in touch with the eternal essence of life, which brings ultimate clarity. It’s an empowering and joyful experience to walk around your town or the country and recognize what lies beyond the obvious, material world.
The first step is to arrive in the present moment and become conscious of our Reality. We do this by observing all the contents of our experience, such as physical sensations and surroundings, thoughts and emotions. For a moment, we can see and witness what is happening sharply, without a filter. Then, we become aware of the overall quality of this moment, not as a judgment but as a general feeling that has no words. This is where we may be able to touch Truth. Although we can recognize the feeling, Truth is always new.
Now, I move on to four principles of Truth, which give us some orientation to develop a relationship with Truth. They may help us to be less confused and see life more clearly.
Principles of Truth
Nobody can tell you the Truth. It is lost in words. Our relationship with Truth comes through feeling. It can be expressed and even received, but unless we are in connection with Truth ourselves, it will become part of our Reality and, therefore, stuck as conditioning or belief.
Reality is the door to Truth. When we become conscious of our experience of Reality rather than being lost in it, we can start to feel its true quality. Feeling means to sense what is happening without words. This is our life’s quest, as it can reveal the true beauty of being alive.
When we are in touch with Truth, all life can unfold naturally. Total clarity can come through as we feel what is true. In trust and harmony with life, our actions are able to align with the natural flow of things. There are no problems anymore.
We can learn to feel Truth from nature. Imagine standing under a waterfall, hearing the water rushing down in full force. When there is no thought or analysis, you may suddenly understand gravitation, power, and powerlessness. The power of the water and your powerlessness in the face of it. The nature of a city can also reveal such treasures if we are able to feel what is happening. It is beyond the intellect to truly understand life.
The quest for Truth is at the heart of science and religion, but it can only be truly fulfilled when we are able to experience Truth directly, without an intermediary. You will discover that love and wisdom pour from Truth. Now you have the instructions to access this. Please try it out and let me know how you get along. Remember, Truth cannot be found. It can only be felt. Alive and new each moment, see how you feel now, and now, and now.
Thank you, and I wish you a joyful discovery,
