What does it mean to 'Go Deep'?
Discover Truth to Guide your Life šTirta Gangga, Bali š®š©
Iām out of words to describe the impact of Bali. Beauty everywhere; on the outside with bright mornings, flowers of all colours, wise jungle forests, and people in the most exquisite āsarongsā, Balinese dresses for ceremonies and special occasions.
On the inside, it feels like localsā hearts are open and their eyes are shining with light. Spiritually is not separate here; temples have no ceiling and are open to the elements. Ceremonies are also social events where communities meet, and emotions are processed. I may be over-enthusiastic here as Iām just getting in touch with the culture, but it sure goes deep.
As weāre on the journeys here, I wonder, what does it mean to go deep in oneās life? There are many layers to our experience: more obvious thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations, to more subtle mental, emotional, and physical activity in the sub- and unconscious. To go deep is to go through these layers and become more conscious of whatās going on. This is more challenging than we are led to believe by commercial interests ā it needs active practice: through daily contemplation, meditation, dream work, and other pathways, I keep discovering the mystery that we are. I keep finding patterns of behaviour I was unconscious of, and the imprints of my upbringing and culture.
To go deep is to see what hasnāt been seen and get to the bottom of the ocean. Where does it all come from? Where has it all started?
Science may provide theories to cushion our discomfort with the unknown, but ultimately, the value is to experience and feel it. There is a still awareness from which all sound arises. Can we hear it in the noise?
If this is speaking in riddles for you, thatās quite the point ā we cannot read our way to source. Knowledge is not power, but Truth is.
Knowledge can be turned and twisted to fit our own agenda. Truth emerges from being honest with ourselves and others ā to face whatās really going on rather than making up stories for how things should be. When we face what is happening, we may become silent so we can listen and hear. Thatās how we can access our intuitive powers, which may guide our life.
So, go deep; donāt run away, feel it all, be honest, and hear the call of truth to guide your life. ā”
