Every moment is new.

A letter for your inquiry into meditation as non-doing without any strategy or technique. Also: executive coaching for entrepreneurs, my new website, an upcoming Meditation & Brunch in London (May 25) and a pilgrimage in the Himalayas (Nov 3–13); inquire for private invitation.

Dearest friends,

When we see ourselves and life with fresh eyes, we rediscover the magic of ordinary experience, which is really extraordinary.

We tend to get used to internal systems and structures, to be in the known, to be sure about who we are and what to do. But this is intensely limiting. Each day we return to something old. We think the same thoughts, feel the same emotions, and are caught in behaviors that may allow for external growth but don’t bring true internal transformation. Over time we become tired and worn down by the constant repetition.

As I’ve been teaching meditation through my online community and hosting events in London, I see the inclination to fix our practice so we can return to something familiar in meditation. Some technique, which we know how to do and feel relaxed with. But in my view, this misses the point of meditation entirely.

In meditation we meet ourselves anew, without strategy or technique. There is nothing to do. The only “doing” is to be conscious of what is happening, and as we practice, naturally start to see through the many layers of our experience which we are ordinarily unconscious of.

We allow the wave of new consciousness to wash over us, first we get wet, then we get cold, and finally we feel incredibly fresh. We can smell the ocean breeze. This is the work: letting what’s unconscious come into consciousness, and from there, noticing stillness, the awareness from which we see.

I’ve had many of such moments on pilgrimage in the Himalayas. All I brought came to the surface and was washed clean. But it happens since I moved back to London too. It’s just more challenging to pay attention here, because I tend to be so busy.

But wherever we are, whatever we’re doing, we may notice stillness underneath.
This is the source of true peace.

A few invitations for you:

  • Our next pilgrimage to the Himalayas is happening from November 3 to 13. If you’re interested or know someone that is, write me for a private invitation.

  • I launched my new website recently to reflect all these exciting movements.

  • For those in London, our next Meditation & Brunch is on May 25. You’re warmly invited — just write me for details.

P.S. Our book, Peace Design is published and waits to be read by those interested in ending conflict in their life and creating peace within themselves, their relationships, and in the world. You can buy it from any online bookstore. If you’re in London, I’d be happy to give you a copy at our next meditation event.
